Lil harse n myself managed to get out for a wee fish yesterday for about 2hrs, wish I had known where FishingBarry was to ..I woulda fished beside him...lol nice catch FB ...sorry I missed ya.

Few things I noticed yesterday as I was out and a heads up. The travel wasnt too bad on the atv but we did manage to get stuck fer a few seconds there are lotsa drifted areas and then glare ice...so dont forget your shovels and cleats.

Ice Holes - I saw several marked and was able to avoid that area easily but with the drifts and blowing snow there could easily be marked holes that you dont see so be careful. The huts are soon to be off and many have moved them closer to shore now and hopefully the holes will have been marked !!

Pressure cracks...alive and moving ,,,,crossing with the atv is not the same to me as with a sled but caution for both ...stop and check ...its U ..we crossed a crack yesterday  and going out good crossing ...comming back ...not so good...fortunately we stopped to check and only got a wet foot ...the blowing snow had disquised that area and it could been a problem sure. A spud is a handy item to have with you.

The weather ...according to the weather people we're to get snow again starting today and some windy conditions over the weekend...just what we dont need ...if we get it it will again hide things like open holes and cracks ...the warmer temps early this week with rain created run off again and I noticed in the area adjacent to one access point ...water and thin ice ...not a problem there as only a foot or so deep but could spoil ya day with a wet foot...

Spring is around the corner and things can change rather rapidly ...think about what ya doing and where ur going etc ,,,,there's still lotsa ice and some good fishing to be had  so have a safe trip out and good fishing.

Hey,
great update buddy! Planning to head out on Sunday as it's gonna be a nice day and gonna take every good day next week as well...I hope. Looks like I'll be walking out. Would you say the walk out from Willow Beach to the Whities will be fairly easy? Just wondering how much snow is on the ice now plus what's gonna come tonight and tomorrow. Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Jas

Thanks man will take your advice for sure. How far out do you figure I have to walk to get into deep enough water to catch 'em? Seems the deeper the water the better.

Had an awsome weekend fishing we hooked into 4 whities on saturday and managed to put 1 laker on the ice today, at 11am I had 1 on that I couldn`t move took about 1 minute before i could gain some line on him managed to gain about 30 feet and that fish was doing some protesting about making the trip to the hut, never did see it and had it on for about 3 minuts, and it had me worried thinking here comes the line cuts (didnt get any thank the man upabove) If I could guess its weight by the fight I would have to say over 20 pounds. Sure would have been nice to at lease see it.

Happy fishing,  6 days of hard water left.
