FYI - I called Monto Reno Marina (Killarney Beach Rd)and the Town of Innisfil for the park today and inquired in the costs to launch and park. Monto Reno's costs are including parking, boat length 20' and under $10, 21 - 24' $17 and over 24' $35. Monto Reno has a season pass for $180 unlimited use. (Vito and I use the season pass from Monto Reno)  The Town of Innisfil has no fee for residents for parking or launching. Non residents pay a flat fee of $25 which includes the parking. The docks are if not in now will be prior to the long weekend, The park opens the long weekend.  Hope this helps all of you and don't forget the public dock that is down off Isabella in Belle Ewart......Sue

Hello Wutime, i have read several posts from you but will try to answer your questions form this area since we're chatting about Simcoe...first lemme say welcome to the board, I hope you enjoy the board and share some of your adventures and tales with us all ...on simcoe and or other lakes too ...ps ..photos help toooo ...

now ..launching ...you can launch in many places depending where you want to fish...before i go to far along ...Simcoe demands respect be care watch your weather and watch the lake ..it can turn from glass to rollers in a very rapid timeframe...

lakers you can usually catch up toward the 9 th line of oro and theres a launch and parking there. there a launch free and parking at the end of tiffin street in barrie or pay at the marina over by the Indian spirit catcher. theres a launch at the 8th line in innisfil ...free to residents and free to non residents till the park opens the a fee applies that  starts in may on weekends  then opens daily late june ...there are several streets you can launch at if you have a smaller boat but parking is an issue there ...at the end of hwy 89 in Gilford is fee but watch your parking ...there are several marinas  lefory ..mondo reno... also a fee launch beside simcoe marina ...then cooks bay marina ...so lots of spots on the west side ...the West side offers may species to fish for ...

lots   of ways to catch the lakers ...flat line em altho maybe gettin late for that now ...down rig em and  if you cant down rig ,,,have a look at topedodivers.com that vanselena sells...he says they work ..i'm waitin for my test unit...lol and you can jig for them ...lately i have hooked into the odd one jigging while anchored ...

Hope that helps a bit ...some real good fishers here and they can give ya some good tips as well ...guys like Jons S and Bigman 33 redfisher and a few others ...look back and see some of the beauties these guys get .

I'll be watching for your reports ...puttin the fun back in fishin

Hey there,

Thanks for the friendly hello and good tips.

We set out early this morning to Cook's Bay (5AM); the Gilford boat launch was closed, tried launching off the beach at the end of Gilford Road, lol, didn't work out well at all, couldn't get the boat in far enough to become bouyant.

We drove down #89 until the end and managed to get the boat afloat (muffler from the truck bubbling water); all in all, not a bad place to launch a boat if you don't mind having all four tires of your truck wet.

We trolled along the open of the river (south end of cook's bay); caught a few perch, rock bass and pike, nothing too exciting.  We then set out and trolled along west side of the lake (about 1-2km from shore (near the white marker in the water); heading north we hit 4-5 small pike, bang, bang, bang (I caught all mine on a perch coloured Rapala Xrap you can buy walmart (go figure)).

I definately need a fish glove, it'll be the next purchase, those pike have some deadly sharp teeth.  Everything was successfully caught and quickly released back to fight another day.

One area of discomfort was the number of dead fish seen floating in the water (at least 20+); makes me think more education should be done on how to properly catch and release fish (perhaps make it a few questions in the new boat licensing test).

All in all, another fun day of fishing on Cook's Bay!

Good news too, I just lined up a couple of brand new electronic Walker downriggers, $500 for the pair!  Family deal's rock.

I'm looking forward to visiting my family in Cobourg and doing some Salmon fishing off Port Hope next weekend.

Thanks again for the warm welcome,

David

PS -> will post some pictures as soon as my buddy sends the digi's over
