| We were out today enjoying the lake on such a beautiful day, then just after 4pm we could see smoke rising out of Cooks Bay. At first we thought it was near Keswick but it wasnt that far: between Roches Pt and Keswick. Attachment: DSCF3202.JPG (Downloaded 59 times)

| 4 Police Boats (York Region, OPP, South Simcoe, Barrie) were all on hand, 3 were pumping water onto the blaze, and one was keeping curious onlookers from getting too close Attachment: DSCF3226.JPG (Downloaded 60 times)

By this time the fire was pretty well at hand.. a larger Yatch style boat, it appeared to have been anchored at the time. I googled for news reports but didnt see any yet, I only hope no one was hurt in the incident.

| still some flames when we left but it was pretty well under control. Not sure if it would sink before they were able to extinguish enough to tow it in somewhere Attachment: DSCF3236.JPG (Downloaded 56 times)

Charred debris everywhere in the water.
Once again, we don't know if anyone was hurt, we hope not.

I caught it on the 11pm Barrie news.. a family of 6 on board were all rescued by a neearby fishing boat.. all have life jackets on. One was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation. Cause was an overheating engine. The boat fiinally sank it was reported.
Glad to see no one seriously injured.. could have been much worse.
Have fun but play it SAFE!!

hmmm good point... I saw the rope down from the bow and it wasnt drifting.. its possible once danger set in they dropped anchor.. was weird all you could see at the back as a ladder, obviously made of metal.
Hopefully it was insured!! (speaking of, I just called TD for an insurance quote as mine is coming due.. they don't insure boats that are older than 15 yrs... was surprised and told them that will mean they lose the opportunityt to insure my house, auto and atv as well.
