| Friday, I launched at Innisfil Beach Launch and boated up to Big Bay Point. It's a good trip during the morning but HELL on the way back with the big waves, especially at the dock, loading the boat. The low lake level meant the tinny kept wanting to slide under the dock and I ripped off some lights. Is there a better place to launch from that is much closer so if the weather goes to crap again, I can clear out in a hurry??? My map showed a launch at Big Bay point but the locals told me it was closed. Somebody told me about a public launch in Barrie. I don't know where it is but if I follow the lake, I should find it. Are there any others close by?? The tinny does not draw a lot of water so deep really is not important.

Hey Rainbow,
I think Horseshoe is still on a holiday trip and if Mike or one of the other locals see's this post, they'll know alternate launches, that's for sure.
Now I looked back in an earlier post and seen Horseshoe had listed Mondo Reno CBM simcoe marine or barrie as alternate launch areas.
Hope this helps and sorry to hear about your lights.
Good Luck! ~dokdok

| Tiffin Boat launch is free in Barrie but it can be quite busy on a nice day.

Thanks guys. I'm taking the kid (he is still a kid to me at 23) out with me tomorrow and he would have shit his pants on the last trip back in. I know I WAS!!!!
They were just lights and easily replaceable. People ain't so I want to cut down the bad experiences as much as possible. I did not get past 50 by being stupid or making the same mistake twice.

Yes Peachy is right.. the tiffen launch is freely available, has two sides for dual activity, and has good parking but does get a lot of traffic. I go there when fishing kempenfelt with my 14 ft fiberglass.
there's a second launch just left to it closer to the marina but parking is not as convenient and its supposed to be a pay launch.
Innisfil Beach ramps are probably a tad closer to Big Bay Point. Check back Horseshoe's notes, i think it might be free now for the fall. Other than that there's a couple marinas in the Gilford area. If fishing Cooks Bay, I recommend Cooks Bay marina.
regards, Mike.

Tiffin is MUCH easier. Went 8 for 12 yesterday with one laker topping 10 pounds. Too bad the season ends today. I was just getting warmed up. I have a hell of a story to write up for you guys but it will have to wait until tonight. Lets just say Sly gets the last laugh. Last edited on Tue Sep 30th, 2008 01:48 pm by rainbow
