Some of you may know of me from the OFNC board...I have been lurking here for a while and am impressed...
I go by the name of Beans...am 72 years old...and have been fishing most of my life...I now live (past 5 years) just east of the town of Bobcaygeon on the north shore of Pigeon Lake...before that Toronto/Richmond Hill was my home town so am no stranger to fishing Lake Simcoe...
I fish for most species but for the past couple of years have taken to carp fishing enthusiastically...at my age I find it much less strenuous than standing and casting for hours like I could years before I developed a bad back...Sitting in the shade of a tree on a grassy shoreline with some friends listening for the sound of our alarms (buzzers) suites my style better...
I used to average about a dozen ice fishing trips a season but since my operation 2 years ago I'm lucky to get in two...
Cheers !!!...Beans

Hi there Beans, welcome to the other side haha.. just kidding.. OFN is a great board as well.. As you're aware I've put up some info on the tourney you're involved with this weekend coming up.. hope you're weather is as good as what we had.. its a great cause.
Carp fishing huh? heard about it, read about it, but it never appealed to me lol. To each their own right? Saw one of the fishing shows do an episode of it at night I think in Hamilton harbour and they were having a grand time of it. Do you eat the carp at all or is it catch and release for you? Just curiuos, we had one family down the street on Hay Bay that always gladly took any carp I caught as a kid.
regards, mike.

Welcome to the neighbourhood Beans, glad you could join us. I to fish all species and I vary my weapon of choice. I love Carp on a fly, you want to have a powerhouse show you finesse try one on a fly rod. The way one of those things dig and pull will give you a whole new outlook on fishing for them.

Hey Mike...we strictly catch and release any carp we catch...
Many moons ago when I was a young lad, a Jewish couple that rented the front of our family farm near Port Perry for the summer, invited me for dinner when they cooked the 10 lb carp I had caught off the causeway...it was delicious...She stuffed it like you would a turkey and baked it in the oven...
Tasted like fish to me !
