Just found this site and found it quite informative. I use to fish Bass and Walleye tournaments from when they first started in Ontario in the early 80's and into the 90's. I prefer fishing for Bass, Walleye and then anything that's open as well as ice fishing. I recently tried fly fishing and found it more fun than I thought it would be. Need more practice and probably some lessons or at least some videos to see how it should be done. First catch on the fly rod was a small Rockbass that was hard to find in the viewfinder of the camera. Retired but never have enough time to get out fishing as much as I would like to. Weather, health or other commitments keep getting in the way.

Thanks for all the Welcomes. I don't know how addictive fly fishing is but if its anything like going into a tackle store. Well I think you know what I mean. I've only got out once and I really enjoyed it. If someone asked what line or fly I was using all I could say was the line was long and the end piece kept getting shorter and the flies where sharp and got stuck on everything but fish. One of my daughters boyfriends loaned me a fly rod and gave me a few pointers but like I said before in my introduction I need some lessons on what to do and how to do it. I went to the video site that horseshoe suggested but for some reason I can't get the first one to work and I got no sound on the second one. Just switched over from an older computer to a newer one this past weekend and still haven't got it set up right. As far as retirement goes, everyone says you will have all the time in the world to do whatever you want, but I don't think those that say that have ever been retired. So far it's been a busy spring and summer and I'm hoping that things will slow down after next week and I can get out and do some serious fishing, whether it be in the boat or from shore. Our kids and grandkids are coming up and want to go out fishing in the boat next week but they are only 4 and 6 so I won't get much fishing done. They enjoy it but they have a short attention span so I'll be heading out for Perch and Rockbass to keep them amused and maybe something larger. the 6yr old caught a 16" Splake last summer with his Scooby Doo rod. Gotta find an old rod for me cause it seems every time I take them out "I" manage to break the tip on a rod. Another 4yr old grandon was out fishing with his dad yesterday near Lindsay and caught several Perch, Rockbass, Sunfish and had a large snapping turtle on but it got off. He's really into fishing now.

Nice site fishfinder. I figured out why there was no sound on the video on my computer. I had the earphones plugged in not allowing sound to come out the speakers. The videos make more sense when you can here them. Do you know of any sites that teach you how to cast etc with video for real beginners? Thanks again.

This site: http://www.midcurrent.com/video/videos.aspx
has quite a few good videos on casting and many fundamentals for beginners.
I'm currently working with a local FFF certified casting instructor to produce some instructional casting videos for both single hand fly fishing as well as spey. Slow to get started, although I hope to have some up before steelhead season begins......
not much time until that starts though
