Hi Guys, I'm new to london and canada for that metter and really want to get in to bass fishing. Can anyone help?

I've heard of wildwood at st matys and just wondered how to fish it from a boat, what sort of tackle to use and bait etc.

Also is there anywhere a bit more local that holds good bass.

Thanks in advance for the help, I've read some of the forums and they are really helpful.

Hey Sprackers in Canada, Welcome to GoFishOnt! What part of town would you prefer to fish? Thames offers some pretty fair catches (pretty shallow now thou) and then there are Conservation areas near by too which are pretty good. You can run a boat in Fanshawe lake and it has some decent bass still waiting to be caught!

Haven't been to Wildwood for some time now (sorry!).

What size boat are you running?

Lake Erie is close by too! (Port Glascow, Port Stanley, Port Burwell, Port Bruce) and there is a London member here that knows these areas very well !!

Hi dokdok,

Thanks for replying.

I've heard of fanshawe how would you go about catching bass there.

where on the thames is good for bass, Can travel to most areas so can you give me some places and tactics that work well.
Just come back from wildwood tonight. I had one small pike that was it but my mate who's boat it is I was talking about had a 2lb smallie.

Can't wait to get out and catch a few from different places. Am looking to get a boat soon nothing big just big enough for my wife and I. Maybe a Small one with a trolling motor.

Thanks again for replying. I need as much help as possible at the moment.

Where are the other conservation areas that can be fished?

You'll get personal satisfaction when you start discovering these little hideaways,,,

I recommend you start by looking back thru' some of the posts for the areas that interest you. You can use the search field at the top of the page which will filter the topic for ya if you like ....

Think of all the posts as a great fisher novel (hahaha) there's a lotta great fishers listed there and they have a few stories to tell and the expertise to share ... Get goin' now, start searchin' (hahaha). You'll enjoy the tales too! I sure did and I read that novel almost everyday!!

If you get stumped, we'll help ya out! :P ~dokdok

PS. Thanks for the update from Wildwood! Glad ya had some fishin' fun!!! We love seeing pictures of the fish ya caught, so snap a few and post them soon OK!

Hey Sprackers,

Horsehoe puttin' me back to work (hahaha) and I thought maybe I should make your fishin' challenge a little easier (lol). Just to let ya know, Horseshoe is one of the great experts on this board!! A very funny man and loves fishin'!!!

Anyway, here's an example of what a search can do for ya .... I typed in "conservation". A list of posts will appear ... I chose the link below as an example ...

... Try reading thru this post (below)

... some older tourneys that list some great fishin spots in the area!

http://gofishont.com/wowbbforum/view_topic.php?id=1560&forum_id=13&highlight=conservation

... This site found in the post has quite a few hot spots listed,

Report back with lots of pix OK :P ~dokdok
