Hi everyone... I have been reading several posts and I am definitely impressed with the number of replies that questions receive... I am hoping that this will be the case for my first post as well.
I have been fishing for as long as I can remember. Both my father and grandfather loved to fish and the legacy continues now with myself, my brother and my niece and nephew. That's right ladies, my niece can hold her own and no doubt will be a force to be reckoned with in the next few years!!
Anyhow... I have always fished from a larger boat and power or size of battery has never been an issue... However recently I was fortunate enough to win a 10 Foot inflatable and I have a MinnKota Endura 30 that mounts on the transom...
Now this is a great little boat and can be thrown into the trunk for a quick afternoon launch following a hectic day in the office but I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on a different battery for the trolling motor? I currently have a Nautilus Deep Cycle Marine Battery, but it weighs around 55lbs and it's difficult to lug into and out of the boat. Would there be any suggestions for something a little more lightweight but still would allow for 3 or 4 hours of useage?? I was thinking about one of the Motomaster Eliminator Power Packs but not sure how well that will work??
Great forums and remember... You can't catch fish if your line's not in the water!

wow C gator ...good question there ...guessin and only a guess i think ur stuck with the battery ,,,i dont think u'll get enought time out of a booster pack ...i believe that they are just what they imply ...a boost...there are a lot of websites for battery suppliers but i think i would jump on interstate as example and see what they have to offer ...i had to replace batteries this year and ...shhh i just went to walmart ...happened to hit a sale and i could replace the ones i got 2 times if need be in rtelation to price ...so i got them ...but weight wise i dunno what they were ...u definitey need the deep cycle tho to make it last ...good luck ...I'll keep an eye on this thread ..intested myself now

Hey CanadaGator,
I thought I'd poke me nose in and say howdy neighbor!
Nice to have another London fisher join us at GoFishOnt.
Now I'm a shore fisher, so me answering your question on marine batteries would be like,,,, well we won't go there today ... hahaha!!
Me brother likes to go tubbin' and has an electric troller as a backup.
It's just like horseshoe said, picked up a deal at wallie mart.
There will be other fishers here who will offer suggestions.
Be patient ... probably a weekend fishin' now that the rain has slowed down a bit!
Glad you found us, Thanks for the intro and I hope to share a few fishin' adventures with ya! ~dokdok

hey canadagator
welcome, i might have alittle bit of a solution for you. In the summer i go to alot of car shows and stereo shows, when there is an outdoor show, instead of bringing extension cords and chargers we bring solar panels that you an get at most automotive stores it keeps the batteries charged enough to keep playing music this option might not help you bcause of the deep cycle part but you could get 2 batteries and charge one while using the other in the boat anyways have a good one
