This is an overdue report on some of my last fishing outings.  I decided to try Komoka bridge a while ago.  The first night I went, I caught an unidentified fish (see way below) and a nice rock bass (didn't have my camera).  I used a yellow mister twister for both.  The next time I went in the morning and didn't catch anything, of course this is when I had my camera with me.  Seems like a real nice area to fish, with lot's of area's to explore.  Here's some landscape pics:

I've also managed to get out for a few quick outings at killworth bridge.  This is the same fish i caught at Komoka bridge, anyone want to identify it?  I tried some different spots by parking just up the road on old river road.  This allowed me to access the opposite side of the river that I usually fish.  Mister twisters have been my lure of choice, these last few outings.

Horseshoe

For the most part I am a catch and release kinda guy, but I do like to keep the occasional fish (when I fish the SCR or lakes).  Is it safe to eat fish from the Thames?  Technically it was caught in Killworth, although I'm not sure it makes a difference.  Is a pickerel that size worth keeping or am I better off let'em go to get bigger?

dokdok, looks to me like you were fishing by the speedway bridge.  I'm usually at the bridge on oxford, just after oxford crosses westdel bourne.  I have fished the bridge by the speedway, but only twice.  Skunked in the morning but had some success at night.  No secrets, just a plain old mister twister, yellow, white and speckled green seem to be the best.  The pickerel seem to be much more active in the evenings.  The bass seem to like'em too.  I try to cast as far as I can, and when I get a hit it's almost instant.  I do a fairly quick retrieve to avoid weeds and since they seem to hit on casts, I figure the more casts the better my chances are.

From the looks of it I was even fishing on the same side as you.  I did a little scouting and noticed there is a trail on the other side of the river in that little beach area marked with a sign.  If you take the trail a bit you can gain shore access to what appears to be fairly deep water, I haven't had a chance to fish it yet but it looks like a good spot.

Sort of off topic, is there anything different to look forward to this fall in terms of different species active in the thames.  I caught a pike earlier in the spring and would love to catch another, I'd love to catch a trout as well.

Thanks for the update F_D!
I would like to try that spot again, maybe deeper water, preferably running water will produce more fish!! I recall September to be more productive ... Maybe water temps will start to lower ... turns the fish on a bit more (I hope)!

Dok isn't  too fussy on what he catches so I usually tip his hook with a bit of worm and you'll find ya catch just about anything in the river ...
Hope ya like catchin' suckers ...
Here's a catch from a while back at the fork in the Thames!!
