Well I went down last Tuesday to spend some quality time with my brother.. which means a little fishing and a little playing on the ATV's. We went out Tuesday evening to his favorite area and we brought home one pike about 4 lbs, and a few small bass/perch said hello but we put them back to grow a little. They get some nice perch in there.. would rival our jumbos in Simcoe! So we were ready to clean the fish up, and my brother showed me how he does it and sure enough not a bone in that pike.

The next day, we tried Varty Lake and 2 minutes into the water, he's got a small pike on. We mostly trolled, and we caught some, lost some, I had both a nice pike on (estimate 6+ lbs) and a nice bass but both shook free before we got them close to the boat.. all in all my brother out-fished me and I think we had 10 - 12 between us that day. All catch and release.

The plan for Thursday was to fish Hay Bay (BOQ) but some an unexpected appointment meant we had to re-plan it for Friday. That afternoon, we're back to Joe's favorite area, and as soon as his line is wet, he's bringing in a pike and we had 3 smaller northerns in the boat in 15 minutes. the bite cooled off so we trolled home when WHAM, a nice 5lb northern hit, then another and another...

With the heat of the day, we went back for a few cool refreshing beverages, then back up to 'the spot'. On the way there, I'm first to hit with a nice 4lb pike but as I'm bringing him in... SNAPPPPPP!!! My two piece rod is now a 3 piecer! the bottom half snapped like a twig. We still get the pike in the boat (you'll see the fish and the rod in the pics) So we're down to 2 rods with 3 in the boat, so my brother was gracious enough to drive the boat and be the Net-boy for his wife and me :)

Checking the rod that night, it looked as if the rod had a knot or flaw in the wood and was darker and moldier looking where it broke, maybe somehow got moisture  on the inside through the join as it hadn't been damaged.. Berkley, if your listening: you owe me a 6ft 2 piece cherrywood!!!!:td:

Back at the spot now, the bass were on, and we hit half a dozen large mouth with 3 keepers to go with the pike. I love catching the bass. They were hitting on spinner baits and 'ugly otters'. So we went home, cleaned up the catch.. had a nice feed of pike & bass and took the ATV's out for a nice run through the back trails.

Friday we make it out to the Bay (which was the point of my trip haha).. but as they say, the sea was angry that day, my friend.. its pretty windy.. we still go out, and within 5 minutes a nice pickerel is caught by my brother..but that was it before we succumbed to the winds

All in all a great few days of fishing a few different locations. No trophies but steady action and some tasty fish dinners. Check out the compiled pics.

I'm trying to use the picasa movie function to group the pics.. some of the zooms aren't mine and to keep the size reasonable, I've set it to the smallest size.. you'll see what I mean lol
