While everyone else was hitting the Kawarthas for walleye and Simcoe for Pike, we headed back to the Quinte area for spring mud-cats with the kids. There's a place out in the middle of nowhere called Gull Pond. It's a good goose pond also...
Anyway the trip in was a little wet this year!!
Son in-law piggie-backing my daughter.. Jr, waiting for me..

Here comes our ride now

Once at the point we're all catch'n some cats.

Ooops, a lost bobber.. Made for some fun as it had a cat on the hook below and so it took on a crazy life of it's own.

Cody & Keri holding their cats.

Sister & brother in-law with a couple nice ones.

Just about time to head back, so here comes our ride again.. and a Ford too

Back home at the Kawarthas, I headed down to the river for some tasty Crappie..

Ain't been out a lot, the weather has sucked so no L. Ont. fun yet.. I may head out for an evening ride on Sturgeon tonight.. Will be at Rivera Park Lindsay on Sunday to support my good little buddy who will be fishing the AYA Tourny. The link for that AYA http://www.blitzcreek.com
Again, ain't much to write home about this spring so far.
Tight lines all!!

I am 36 years old and still cant take a cat off the hook for fear of getting stabbed LOL ... but those crappies look like a good pan fry!
Well done, and thanks for the report.

Very happy you men liked the post.
Yeah eating those cats are a far cry from yummy eyes, perch or crappie.. We do it every spring tho mostly for the fun of it. When we got back the two boys pulled out a guitar and harmonica to cranked out some Neil Young & Seger for us old guys cleaning fish & sipp'n a beer or two.
As I was saying, and I did manage to head out for a boat ride last night (1st time on my lake this year). Pretty slow, and no eyes
The evening office..

Didn't take long to find this little fella. A quick thank you for playing the game and he's back to feed the eyes & skies.

Thought I'd get a shot of this minnow factory that usually treats me good, and pow, a snot rocket skie hammers my walleye offering.

No net used, no leader, just a twist of the Earie Dearie hook and he's off.. See him again in a few more years.
A few more passes by the minnow factory, a couple hits & misses, then the kiss of death "Rock Bass".. So it was off to my fav drop off.. Two more Kisses of death.. In shallow to 6'- 8'or so & nice and quiet with the Minn Kota.. A couple more perch and you guessed it another Kiss of Death Rocky Racoon..

No walleyes, & a little too windy to try for crappies in the shallows.. No big deal Sparky Dog and I had a nice evening's ride just the same..
Cheers & tight lines all
