I live in Barrie so Simcoe is in my back yard,I have a place on 3mile lake just north of bracebridge. geo bay. to ottowa last summer alone I fished lake of bays, chandos, rice, scugog, long ,eagle, elephant, muskoka, lake jo,gloucester pool, geo bay,bay of Q. Penn, mary, vernon, rabbit lake (temagami) harcourt park,4 mile, sturgeon, kashe and more. So as you can see not to many places i dont get to.I was guiding on lake of the woods out of sioux narrows but had to come back. If any body wants to pick my brain about any lake they want to try let me know. pretty good odds i have been on it. let me know some of your favorites as well. This is a kashe lake piggy

Mike it wood be Lake of the woods without a doubt. I had the privelege of guiding there for 5 months. a few years ago,so I got to fish it from ice out to the early fall, weather changes  and all only fishing a portion of the lake because it is so immense. I had the chance to meet alot of great people and fish arguablly one of the best multispecies fisheries in the world.I  did not have a digital camera then so all my photos need to be scanned so i can get them on my lap top. The thing with that big lake is not only tremendous numbers of fish but you have the chance of a trophy in any species. And get paid to do it. most of my clients were american so you got to fish for different things all the time because they wanted the whole experience, shore lunch the whole works.I tons of walleye the biggest being 12.5 32inches 51 inch northern, couldnt crack the 50 on a musky but alot comin close 18 lbs laker,5lb smallies,5lbslargies,huge crappies bald eagles are all over the place.and the scenery is unreal. So ya thats where i would like to get back to but the lakes around here keep me occupied. The only problem is with it being so far north the warm weather grow season is short. So the bass dont get huge like they can down here.(here is a big pike from lake of the woods.

hey bigmann,

I'm wondering if I can pick your brain for a little info on a few lakes. I'm a musky guy and I'm trying to find a few new lakes to try out this summer with my bud. Last year we had a slip on Sturgeon and fished it pretty hard July - Sept with limited success (all fish landed were 35" or less) so then moved over to Cameron Lake and got a few muskies in the boat.

I'm looking for a little info on Kashe if there are any musky in there. I heard that there used to be musky in there but I don't know. How is the pike fishery is in there?

Also, my family has a place on Mary Lake near Huntsville. I've fished there and caught smallies and pike in there. I've never fished outside of Mary lake though, how is the fishing on Lake of Bays and Vernon.

Thanks for the help!

I only have a few lakes under my belt, Sturgeon, Cameron, Restoule, Mary, Buckhorn, Chandos, Rice (once), 3 mile, and Haliburton lakes.

Hey muskyhunter I fish Kashe because my friend has a cottage on Boyd island and I can be on the water in 45 min.from my house. It can be really good for pike and some big ones are caught all the time I have yet to catch  a musky out there but have had a few big girls follow to the boat. Few and far between but they are there.it  is an excellent bass lake though. You mentioned chandos. That lake has some big pike but the lake beside it jack lake in apsley has some big skis.Kashagawigamog has some good numbers as well. other lakes you can get to from mary are vernon and penn. both are awesome bass and pike lakes. the 3 mile I am on is north of Bracebridge it has lots of eyes and some big bass heres one just under 6.
