A question to the experienced ... I'm looking for a spot to take my boyfriend for a little fishing trip. Looking for some suggestions on locations. It's a birthday gift.

He loves to fish - not an expert, but certainly not a novice. I haven't fished since I was a kid, but love adventure. I'd like something in the way of a lodge (nothing fancy, nothing too expensive) with either a guided tour or boats we can take out on our own with a packed lunch and a couple of beers - that kind of thing.

I'd prefer something within 3 hours of Toronto as we only have 3 nights max and I don't want to waste time on the highway.

Timing: end of June 2008.

Thanks, any info is appreciated!

First off welcome to the board!  :D

I would suggest that for a birthday make it a party! Get a few of his buds ( Guys and girls) totether and do a charter on lake Ontario for Salmon. If thats not you cup of tee ,a weekend on the Bay of Quinte might be in order. I do not know if Hawg Hunter is still  guideing at that time but its worth a shot! With fishing you are only restricted by your wallet!!! Hope this helps

Hello Justfishingaround....is there a particular area you would prefer to go to and most important what species would you like to target ...

Once you decide  on a place post here to see if anyone has been or knows about it and if they get a good review.

theres places in North Bay on Nippissing or places in quinte for walleyes.

Places around simcoe you can go so lots of options ...few more hints maybe members can come up with few ideas ..i recall a post of a fellow that fishes to the west of toronto that does guide ..i'll try find that as well for you

Good luck and fish on

hi Justfishingaround, welcome to the site...

I'd recommend a weekend cottage somewhere with a boat rental thrown in.... Should be able to find something suitable in the Bay Of Quinte area.. less than 2 hours away, lots of fish to target (pike, walleye, etc, possibly bass if its after Jun 28th).. then you have the cottage to kick back, have a few beers, while the boyfriend cleans the fish ;)

regards, Mike.
