Anyone ever take one of these adventures? Would be interested in your recommendations and experiences if you have gone. One day I want to go with my old high school buddies if I can talk them into it.

I only did it twice so far and at the same place due to the lower cost, The place was a shak at best , the outhouse was super NASTY, and the service sucked but we still caught good numbers of fish (mostly bass) and I saw my first moose. I would do it again in a heart beat. They do cost a lot of $. More for the older guys/single guys than family guys with money that is not earmarked for bills Go for it if you can. My 2 cents. take care

| I own a fishing camp in the Yukon and I can garantee anyone who books a trip up north will be happy with the experience. Check out the outfitters and ask for references. Call them and find out if what is offered is what is delivered and what you want. There are articles in the past issues of Outdoor Canada which will help anyone who has not been before and streamline things for people have been. I think a fly in trip whether local or far away will always be remembered

WOW a place in the Yukon. you are one lucky guy! With a wife ,2 kids and a moregage I could only deam of going to a fishermans paradice like that. Is that a trip of a lifetime or what? Good for you!

yeah, I was thinking the same haha.. I was thinking more like remote northern ontario myself.. but I'm interested in hearing more about the fishing up there!! And each picture is worth a thousand words too haha.

| well guys, I will get a couple of photos but I need to scan them in, but if I did this right here is a picture fishing for grayling up in the NWT off the Mackenzie River. There are some afordable trips really not that far away. Places like Stanton Air out of Sparrow Lake have some weekend trips. Around $400. Fly into one lake for the weekend or two different lakes each day. These lakes are close but hard to get into without a float plane. You can canoe into a few of them but I'm almost thining the flight is worth it because of the portages and my aging back.

Hey Mike:
Ive been on 12 fly-in trips. Let me tell ya its great! its so good i got spoiled and dont even summer fish down here in lower Michigan. We have only booked with two different operators. The one i recommend is "Hawk Air" They fly out of Hawk Junction,On. just 35 miles north east of Wawa,On.These are Walleye,Pike,and portage to lake trout lakes. Its well worth it. Limit out in Walleye's a few times a day.
One year we had 10 guys at camp and caught 850 fish,didnt keep all of course thats counting the ones we through back.

I have been on several, I flew out of Nakina to a Lake called Kabinakagami. This was
a few years ago. At the time there were only two plywood cabins on the lake. The fishing was okay but not outstanding. The outfitter flying us in was less than adequate. We had a party of nine and had contracted and paid for a guide for the week he never did arrive as had been promised. When we arrived at our appointed time to flyin they were not ready, we had to wait almost four hours for a pilot to arrive. I won't mention the name of the outfitter as he is still flying out of Nakina. I also flew in with Chaplow Airways, their camps were excellent as was the fishing. The best trip I have ever been on was a drive to, Camp Lake St. Joseph in Northwestern Ontario. The fishing is sensational, walleye and Pike, it is a long drive but is real easy on the wallet. I would highly recommend this place. If anyone wants more info call me.

Hey Larry... thats really too bad... kind of defeats the whole purpose of a fly in trip when it's handled like that.. Glad the 2nd trip was much better (even if it wasnt a fly in).,. any pics from that trip? would love to see

WOW!! mateys, a week later and I'm still reeling. My sons gave me a b-day present, A fly-in fishing trip for my big 60. 2 sons and grandson flew into Boleau Lake, NW of Orilla with Stanton Air. In Aug 9th, 2008 noon _ Out Aug 12,2008 noon. Upper and Lower Lake 1 cabin we were all alone. It looked poor at first "raining" but it cleared up. We read quirkie things on woodwork in the cabin ie: caught 164 L bass. Oh ya, Oh ya they must have spent all day reading in the cabin and dreaming up all sorts of tales. Not so my friend as we were about to find out. The fishing was great, large mouth bass and perch. Size 1/2lb - 4lb bass. Bass, bass and more bass all over the place. Docks, lillie pads, weed beds. Leeches/worms were good. Large rattlers, top water soft baits, drop shots brought out the big guys. Anything goes with those fish. Caught 84 fish in all. Catch and release. Over 14" trow back. Just kept enough to eat and boy did we eat. Best fishing experience ever. Will go again 2009. How about the boys on here getting together for a trip??

hey what a great birthday gift for sure!!!!! thats something to consider here a gofishont group for next year (or later this year).. I'd certainly would entertain the idea!
