Remember the Blizzard of 77? There is a great book out called White death - The Blizzard of 77 it was written by Erno Rossi it is basically a compilation of stories from people who survived the storm. I was just a kid during this storm but have some pretty cool memories of it.
It may sound twisted but I wish I could experience a storm like this now as an adult, I would love it.

Blizzard of 77 pics

East Main St, Welland Ontario, Friday afternoon Jan 28, 1977
Welland Tribune photo

A school bus lies buried in a snowdrift after being abandoned on Tice Road in Pelham, Ontario. Many children were stranded at schools, especially in rural areas as buses could not transport children back home in the blinding blizzard.

By the 4th day, houses and vehicles near Lake Erie were being buried by drifts of 20 to 30 feet high. Warnings were broadcast on radio warning people not to touch hydro wires that were now easily reached by walking on the huge drifts.

Hey, I owned a car like that!
Them were the days when you had rear wheel drive and 2000000 hp (minus a few zero's!) and gas was about 40-50 cents a gallon. Cars weighed about 4 tonne and you could fish tale that tank thru snow piled 10 feet high and hope ya made it thru to the other side (steel studded tires helped too!) ... hahaha .. Holy Sh@t I'm getting old .

LOL Dok. I owned a few wrecks like that, If I had my way I would still be driving something from the 70's.
The toughest car ever built in that era was the Chrysler Imperial. The only car EVER to be banned from demolition derby's because they were just to tough and could not be killed.

| The sled on top of the school bus looks like a Elan 250... If I get mine working it will be on the ice, it is a 76 Elan. My grandfather bought it brand new because of the storms we were getting in the mid 70's!

Put together a quick slide show... thought I'd better get this developed before the next snow fall !
Anyway, here's a slide of the GFO fall time colors. Thanks for your pics!
I hope to have a down loadable slide show ready soon. This should be able to run on your desktop. ~dokdok
Well, I may be having technical difficulty ... hahaha, not sure if the slide can be seen in this post ...
