~~~Thanks to all who followed my direction, I told you all that phishen with me would be a great adventure. After leaving my place, and Thanks to Redfisher for having room to transport my hut, we left to meet up with Walleyedreamer at Tims in Gravenhusrt, he arrived shortly after us, with 2 buddies,and a young lad name Marco. We headed out for a drive to the lake, stopped at 1 spot and took a look east access, Short walk out 100' or so , but no adventure so we headed on to my spot, with the Red hut, after a real bumpy ride, the roads has heaved all over the place due to the ice and temps. we arrived to find our access road has not been cleared, and we had a 4' frozen snow bank to climb, now the adventure has begun, WD went for a walk, and says there are some deep drifts on the trail about 2' high, said we come this far we're not going back, so we unloaded the gear, for the trip down to the lake. I was lucky at be able to drive WD's machine down to the lake, to find only a half inch of snow on the lake, fantastic, But no red hut, we'll have our work cut out for us to find the spot. Gave young Marco his first ride on a snowmobile, took an hour to get the smile off his face. We got down to business, punching hole here and there,
and for a while I thought PHishphinder was with us but no I was down wind of Redfisher's buddy Steve who smokes the same Wacky Tabacky, nothing was happening and WD as usual decides to try the other side of the bay where we know there is some Lakers, only they are small, about 1.5lbers., So away he went with Marco, to phish over there, and sure enough he returns about 15min. later,asking if we had any phish yet, and the answer was no. well he got off his machine with a smug look, and plops down his first, of the day
So after rubbing it in, he headed back to his rod, where Marco was keeping an eye on them. I told the boys I didn't like our area, with depth reading all over the place, I said we had to move again to another area behind me about 75' away, and no sooner did we get set up, Dimitri asked how would he know what a laker hit was like having never caught one, and as he said that, this fella almost took the rod out of his hand
his first ever time ice phishen, his smile lasted all day. Slug was up next with this one
and not to be out done
We buried the lakers in the snow, and a short time later Wd comes back, on his way over I told everyone to say we had no phish, so WD arrives and asked his question, and we said no NADA, he puts on his Smug little smile and Plops 2 more trout on the ice, he say Marco caught them, but his buddy Graggo couldn't keep it in and says Mario come over here, and shows him 2 very nice Lakers which were bigger the his 3, then I called out Mario, come over here and I showed him mind, We all learned some very dis-descriptive Polish adjectives that, day, and away he went to get his gear, while he was away the Lakes really turned on with Draggo, Dimitri, and Slug having hot holes, Draggos first
Then his second
I was so busy running back and fores taking pics, Scottie yells out that I had a phish on went and grabbed the rod, had it up about 10' off the bottom, and then it was gone, and it felt real good "DWAT"Here's Slug showing Redfisher what a Laker looks like
I decided to move again, and shortly after, had this nice one on ice
Marco was a little surprised by the size, he only seen Itsy tinny weeny lakers, that WD , and him had caught
We thought we spends some time and do some set up shots, here's Scottie with a loaner
And Slug, with his, and Redfisher with his first
Draggo, Dimitri, and Marco with their haul
And your truly with his, and you can see the secert of my success
Well WD had to get home and left about 12:30, and we stuck it out weren't leaving until Redfisher, and Scottie put a Laker on ice and a short time later, Redfisher yells out " Phish On", and with Slug's coaching
Great now it's Scottie's turn and sure enough "Phish On "
He still had the same smile on Sunday morning, but that's another post
