We arrived at Johns on Ice bungalows mid afternoon Tuesday with some high hopes so just a quick stop in to drop of extra gear and to prepare fishing equipment and we where off to the first GPS location from a year ago.

That spot was very nice to us bringing a friend and myself to our limit for walleye and a trout limit for me.

Here is a pic of the rewards from the first night.

The next daay the guys wanted to go search for some big trout and whities so we headed to a location that I had never fished before but looked appetizing on the map. We were rewarded by landing a total of 11 trout most of which were released. This spot had a lot of fish around but we where getting mostly small fish the biggest being only about 2lbs. But was a beautiful spot regardless.

Here is my brother in-law with a little trout caught in 96 FOW.

After the first full day of fishing we had our limit of trout for four guys and a limit off wally's for four so it was time to have a fish feast so we let'em have it.

The game plan for the second full day was to try for some whities during the day and the go for wally's again that night as we had consumed all of ours the night before we ended up landing five whities that day and a four man limit of walleyes all under the slot size exept one that was just over 24" that night.

We left Friday morning with a final count of 16 walleyes, 8 trout and five whities, as well as a good ol' fish feast while there. It was again another great trip to the North and I cant wait to head up this summer for some more great action.

The conditions on the ice were perfect for travel with ATV's. There was some drifts but you would be fine. We left the machines at home and used our trucks to get around as the ice is 36" thick in most spots.

Temagami has a lot of islands and shoals which also means a lot of spots that don't freeze because of currents. I have been traveling the lake up there for ten years and still heavily rely on local friends for ice reports everytime i go out. Temagami is a wonderful fishery but also a lake that commands a lot of respect like any big lake.

If anyone is planning a trip to the Big T let me know I may be able to help out or at least get you a local report.

Tight Lines and look forward to a steel filled spring.

Cheers.

Hey Laker ... great report!!  when I lived in TO used to make the trip up Temagami at least once every winter ... it was the weekend I looked froward to all year. Used to stay at Temagami Shores and fish the east arm. Everything about the trip was fantastic especially the fishing ... lakers and whities . Last couple of years I went we were getting into walleye too. After reading everybodys reports this winter I think that I'll have to dig out my icefishing gear and make the trip up there next season.

Thanks guys!!!!

Taker, I was just at Temagami for 5 minutes! (vicariously through your report) Great report bro! Looked like a blast. If there is an extra spot for another person and boat on your summer trip, consider it filled! lol

Take it ease
