As i sit here n think i wonder where if when and all them good thoughts...yes me mind is gearing into whitefish thru the ice. I wonder if we'll be on the ice for whitie opener. Over the past few years the normal patterns that i am used to dont seem to be holding true for me. Normally for early ice i dont have to go too deep to catch the odd one ...but as example last year the normal spots didnt produce and what was caught was perch...not what u expect when ur geared  up for lakers and whites. Ice ...will we have that for January opener ...I kinna have my doubts for the big water but i can see the bays being frozen and be ice fishing for perch in mid to late december and then ...where is the big key ...last year the normal poducing spots were slow to poor to not a dam thing ...then theres  the report of fish are way over thereeeeeeeee...or u gotta go way down that way or head to sobeys ...so now i wonder are last years hots spots gonna be that again this year or are we gonna be on a hunt again ..then will there be a hot lure ...u just gotta have a zipecodudledee to catch em or ur wasting ur time...gawd I'm gettin excited already ...will it be a boating opener i got my doubts this year ...and if Vans early prediction holds true for cold air then we'll have some ice maybe not safe but there may be some...this snow should have helped cool off the surface temperature some at least. Then lets hope we all have good health to get out there ..last year had a few set backs but overall came out pretty damm good ,,,and fish er no fish i sure had fun and thats what its all about ...whats your thoughts ...care to share ...now i guess i better get Christmas out of the road and then its time to fish and shovel snow and shovel sno and fish ...here we go for 2008/9
ohhhhh and dont ferget to get a licence.

Yes I have ice fishing on my mind for sometime as we all know and heard from time to time. As for hitting laker's, whities, or perch not much matters as long as I"am there out on the ice with my health and after a day out on the ice with scottie or good friends there will be a story. I will start with a few days walking out for perch off Gilford then as the ice builds north to BBP the bike will make its way out. I will try a few trips for lakers and whities but most of all meet up and get out with friends.

WOW Horseshoe what a eye for detail you got!

Yes bigger hooks is just what the Hawg Hunter ordered! They came with puny/week  treble hooks, so I changed them with Eagle claws ( does not have to be red but it does not hurt! )

take care

Hi Horseshoe

The hooks size was #4 and I did not change the split ring . I am not brand loyal on many things as money is not easy to make as it is to spend.   BUT BUY Quality!  I do put split rings on if they do not come with one and I also have used  bigger#2 hooks but #4s seem the right size. I am still learning! Hope this helps

Take care
