Well folks, the missus and I had a great week up north. Just the two of us and the dog.  A friend of Michelle's offered us a cottage on the Quebec side of the Ottawa River near Pembroke for a week and we took them up on it. The weather was great, not too hot or cold.. some days the Ottawa river was a smooth as glass (other days not as smooth lol). We were told there was a great site for pickerel nearby so we used that as a starting point for our fishin'. I did catch one small walleye there but with the constant 6 - 8 other boats there all the time I was thinking this spot was getting fished out..

So we ventured out trolling away from that spot and eventually...BAMM! a nice smallmouth bass on the missus' line. Into the boat it goes, then I get a real nice one about 2.5lbs on. Both fish danced on top of the water for us.. I think I love smallie fishing the best when they hit and immediately jump out of the water. So now we got our own spot for some decent fish. Went there every day and played in other spots and would then troll home the last mile to the cottage. No muskies, a couple small pike, a small pickerel, and lots of smallies during the week.

On our last day, Sunday, we got up early to have one last fishing morning in before heading home, we head to our spot, get one, lose one, then nothing more for a bit so 10:30 am I decide we should head home and get an early start for the 5 hour drive. The missus says lets troll home, so we go past the famous pickerel spot (nothing caught) and we keep the lines wet and point toward the cottage.

Then the fun begins! the missus gets a nice 2.5 lber on her line!! We circle back and she gets 2 more! We both lose a couple after they dance for us. the funny part was these were not far from our dock at all. We had been boating past all these nice bass the whole time lol. Oh well. here are the pics, cant wait to go back again.

Our welcome committee:
