Some of you may have already seen this report on another site but I thought I'd let some new people see it as well.
We wrapped up another season in the north with a great weekend in Gowganda.
This time around, we brought our wives and Scott brought his daughter.
Our first day there as the girls settled into the slower pace, us guys helped Urs close in his 30x60 shed.
On Saturday we headed out as a group for some walleye action on Stumpy Lake. This day was also my 5th wedding anniversary ( I know, I've got a good wife). After a bit of searching around I managed to put a couple of decent fish in the boat.

My wife got her first ever walleye as well.

All in all it was a good day on the water with each boat getting 8 fish on the stringer. Here's the Weir boat's catch.

And the days catch.

Sunday, we woke to some not so great weather. Cool and rainy which turned the women off the fishing. Not to be deterred, the 3 guys took a quick trip to the smallmouth bass lake to see if we could put a dent in the population. We made out allright with 17 between 3 of us on the stringer in a matter of 2 hours. We released a bucket load as well.

Our last day of fishing saw 1/2 of us on an outer lake and my wife and I decided to try our luck on the main lake.
I nailed a couple of little hammer handles and then managed to tie into a real beauty at 35 inches long.

After that we went for a drive in search of some sites and some brookies. Found this little stream beside a logging road.

And sure enough after a couple of casts pulled this little beauty in.

It was a great trip and I couldn't have asked for a better anniversary!
Tune in in a couple of months for a spring update.

as I said before Pauly. You and Elkram got to have stocks in that place. You guys are going to have to make it up to Simcoe for some Whities this winter.

Hopefully the same location. She loved it up there as much as we do. That was my 4th trip up there in just over a year. We went up July '07, May '08, July '08 and then again in September. If I could find work up there I'd be living there.

If she's taking you to cottage country for fishing every year for your anniversary, then she's a keeper!!
(that pike aint too shabby, either!! )

She enjoys being out on the water. It really relaxes her and allows her to hang out with my while I do what I love! It helps that she loves to eat fish and as long as I bring something home she's good to go!
As for the pike, I'm still looking for a bigger one. 2 wks before we went up, another guest at the lodge caught a 17 lb northern and there's a 25lb or so northern from a couple of years ago hanging on the wall in the dining room where we stayed. I know they're in there now I just have to find them.
