I really wanted to get more boating in but it looks like an early winter. High pressure systems continue to come from the North and are finishing as a Greenland high.

Hard-water fishing, I love it. There are two rules in ice-fishing that will keep it fun and enjoyable.

1) Safty....   2)  you need at least 8 hour of ice time this includes travel time. Because  if your in a rush you never enjoy it and accidents may happen then.

What I"am saying and there are time when we all have to be back at said times, if you dont have time to relax on the ice then wait it out one more day.

play safe and walk with dry feet.   say no to thin ice............

A snow squall warning remains for the Bruce Peninsula, Owen Sound, Grey, Huron, Perth counties across Barrie, Orillia and Collingwood. Squalls from Lake Huron and Georgian Bay are expected to drop 15 to 25 centimetres of snow.

"Cold west to northwesterly winds have caused snow squalls to develop off Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. These squalls will persist over most of the above regions today," said a warning on Environment Canada's website.

"However, heavy snow will be frequent enough over some places to give local snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 centimetres today. A slight wind shift should bring snow squalls into the London and St Thomas area this morning. In addition, whiteout conditions can be expected at times."

About 20,000 people remained without power on Monday morning, as hydro crews worked to restore electricity to areas in Barrie, Orillia, Penetanguishene, Bracebridge, and Huntsville. At one point on Sunday, as many as 45,000 customers had no electricity.

The weather also got so bad that police left their cruisers behind to help multiple car accident victims in the London and Kitchener areas on foot.

"From midnight (Saturday) night until early (Sunday) morning we had 60 collisions," said Ontario Provincial Police Const. Dave Woodford on Sunday. "They were all minor in nature --into the guardrail, sliding into the ditch."

With the weather not letting up, Woodford said residents should keep safe on the roads on Monday and throughout the winter by:
  • getting winter tires
  • always brushing snow off your car
  • making sure wipers and headlights are in working order
Woodford had one other important piece of advice, telling drivers to remain in their cars if they run into trouble.

"Don't be out wandering around on the road," Woodford cautioned. "Because that's when people watch what you're doing and have a tendency to slide into you."

With a report from CTV Toronto's Ken Regular
