Was wondering if anyone has been having any luck around Simcoe County river fishing for salmon. I was up in Coldwater last Sunday and saw a few but nothing on the bank. On Wed I took a drive out to the Notty by Highway 90 and it was running fast and high with the last rain and visibility was about 6". Has anyone been on the Pine river or any other places?

Thanks,

Just Peachy

I have been to a few places last couple of weeks. Coldwater has been meek since the torrential storm last sunday. The fish that were in the lower quater of the river, shot up and there seems to be little to no fish that replaced those pools. Visibility is great, bad numbers this year? I'm starting to lean this way. Notty, as you stated has been high and choco milk since the same storm. The tribs are clearing up, so I imagine the fishing would be good as I have been seeing more than a few fish boiling and jumping around in the notty.

Thanks Jon, I was going to try and get out yesterday but time was limited so did a bit of brookie fishing instead. Will have to see if I can sneak an afternoon off this week and see about those salmon.

I went up to coldwater yesterday and one fish was landed. i followed the river up to the ski hill and saw nothing on the banks or in the rvier. i was float fishing with roe bags and i got nothing. weds i went to nicolston and i missed one and a guy up stream landed a 27" hen, on a little cleo blue and silver. there's always fish in the trash cans at the park in angus but I havent had any luck there either this year. seems like a slow year at least a slow start.

I had one good hit on the pine river before closing but haven't been out since. Am hoping to do some fishing on my vacation this coming week.
