Just wondering as to how many other persons here are fly fishers?
Where do you call the home waters?
How often do you breakout the flyrods?
Species you chase with the flies?
Myself been fly fishing for 4 years, my primary target here on the Moira and Trent rivers are Bass. Fish the Ganaraska River for Salmon and trout, The Trent & Moira also hosts walleye, carp, steelhead, pike and muskie for the gamefisher.

I"am a penner but tag a fly on the end. I see two guys using fly rod but they get in the way like bottom bouncers. I prefer drifting next to a fly fishermen but a bottom bouncers they might slip.

| I have ben fly fishing since I was 4. Still get to do it each year. I go out for brookies and salmon from time to time. I go for trout and salmon out east each year for 2-3 weeks. Nothing like catching a 7-8 lb Atlantic on a fly rod. I will do some here for bass and pike usually a couple of times each season. I go after panfish sometimes here as well.

Used to fly fish for smallies a lot in high school, then put it down when I got into floatfishing with a centerpin. I am picking the technique up again as I am going to Eleuthra on a bonefishing trip next Jan. So you could say my home waters will be Governers Harbor

I picked up a cheapy fly rod a few years back mainly to play with smallies, but have had fun catching big chubs and shiners in the creek down the road to later use as muskie bait..
I have tried for trout in the creeks of Durham Region, but I'm a big time rookie with trout, so have a "zero" to score on the trout.

Hey redfisher,
I go every year to Newfoundland. 45 minutes outside of St Johns. I try and stop off in Nova Scotia as well for a day or 2 with my cousin. This year I will be going for 3 weeks and stopping off in Deer Lake for 3 days for Lake Trout as well. My uncle is a Fisheries Officer there. I enjoy the fly fishing for big Atlantics there as well as the sea run Brookies those rivers hold. I go for brookies, (MUD TROUT) as most of us newfies call them. Sea trout. This year will be a good one. Hopefully the ocean cod fishery will be open again in August. Will make for a nice post when I get back. I also go for alot of Brookies here in Ontario. I go back into Algonquin as my cottage is just around there. Wilberforce area.

Like I said I have been at it for about 4 years and enjoy it, the best thing about fly fishing is that it is not overly populated with fishers. There are however enough normally that you can dig out a partner 2-3-4 for the day if you feel like company.
I find that it is a great way to relax when I am troubled as well where the other types of fixing I enjoy this one is my solice.

| The Markdale area would be the limit of my fishing area on the rocky. I usually hit from Traverston(the middle of nowhere) down stream to Durham. There is some great fishing between Durham and Hanover and if you get stuck... the trip to Walkerton is worth it. But any stream around there usually has a few treats waiting for the right angler! Good luck next weekend Real Fishin! Last edited on Sat Apr 19th, 2008 12:51 pm by Just Peachy
