Morning All!

Havent been around much of late, been a pretty crazy couple of weeks, but things are starting to smooth out.....;)

Mrs Disspatcher & I are in the middle of purchasing a house in Georgina. (3 minute drive to the Marina! )
I have been in the same house for 8 yrs now and we are ready for a change.

My question is....which is better...Rogers OR Bell??

I need phone, cable and internet package. I do have HDTV's BUT have never used the feature.
(currently using bell sat,phone & H/S sympatico @ $150 month!!)
I absolutly hate the customer service Bell gives:td:, but is Rogers any better??

Any help would be appreiciated.

Disspatcher.

Dispatcher,

I find Roger's internet much quicker than Sympatico. I have 3 cell phones, High speedlite, and digital cable with 3 theme pack for $260 per month. The price will vary on which plan you take. Also don't forget to mention that you are thinking of switching to rogers from bell or threaten Bell you are switching. All of a sudden the price will drop. Another thing is don't get Roger's home phone. I have heard a lot of problems with their long distance connection outside of Canada.

As for customer services, it depends on who you will get on the other end when you call them up.

I have been a Rogers customer for over 10 years now and much prefer them over Bell except for my land line. This is my 2 cents. If you do decide to go with Bell again for your new place then let me know. I will see if I can get you a deal. My wife works for Bell :).

Bell is definitely hurting with all the people moving to Rogers Home Phone..

Definitely Rogers Internet service hands down over Bell...  It's faster, shared or not, I never see any degradation in speed.. they have many options in terms of speed now and one will fit your needs...I've seen the support side of Sympatico when they sell you DSL and you're not even within the required distance to the CO (technical limitaiton of DSL) and watched them dance around the issue... it wasnt pretty but I had a friend who knew a VP there.. lets say some people were terminated and we were given 6 months free dial up and double our money back because of how it was handled..

Also being a cable subscriber and fed up with Telus for a cell phone.. we did talk to Rogers.. who started offering many discounts and freebies when discussing it over the phone. I would recommend you write down exactly what they offer and have it verified by them and get the name of whomever you talk to (easy to forget to do while you're talking to them)... I say this cause I'm not sure everything that was promised to me was delivered in terms of discounts etc..

They were bugging me almost weekly to move to home phone.. and after a few bell bills over $200 (yes we were on a plan) I gave in.. so far happy with it but haven't seen the first bill for it yet.. supposed to be cheaper but ask me in 6 months lol..

Now we're on Bell's radar for having moved phone service, they keep calling and promising the world.. nice to be able to play one off the other this way if for any reason Rogers pisses me off. If nothing else its nice to see the customer getting some clout with the big corporations that forget their business is built one customer at a time..

For support, I think they both have issues at times... when we took on the cell phone, they changed my Rogers acct number and I didn't know it so my automated billing had issues and they canceled the phone service til we paid... make sure you're prompt to pay them or they'll play games with you..

No matter who you go with, there are discounts in the bundles, and try to avoid long term contracts (I wonder if this can be negotiated for cell phones with them yet - I will never do more than a 12 month contract again) - cause its nice to play one against the other.. thats when they will do anything to win the business..

If you do decide on Bell High Speed, insist on a 'loop-back' test BEFORE installation and verify the actual distance of wiring between you and the CO (central office).

Good luck with the move, and let us know what you decide and how they deal with it.

Thanks for the info guys.

So from what I gather they are quite the same..both fairly useless unless you have leverage..Like moving. Well after 8 yrs and MANY complaints and threats to Bell customer service WITHOUT ANY satisfaction, now its MY turn! ;)

Ill let yu know the score in a few weeks!

Also if you have the time, go to a dealer to sign up for anything. They are more willing to bend backwards for you in terms of freebies. They offer more incentive programs since they earn commission on the sale. Some dealers(bell or roger stores) have better deals than other since they are franchised. Well at least all the roger and bell cell phone stores are.

yeah I go along with what slug said...I have bell for home fone ...and primus for a long d package...thats about 70 a month ....and then i have rogers for the rest ,,,,i have been pleased overall with rogers but i wont put all my eggs in one basket ....I have cable with extra channel boxes  on 3  tvs , no HDTV...2 cells and hi  speed inet ...thats about 1  90 a month...so about 2   60 for all ...only thing i find with rogers is their bill is a bit confusing and you MUST always check the bill...and if ur going to rogers from bell they will give u deals and bell will offer deals ...the part I hate is this SIGN UP  thing ...thats bull,,,,remember you can keep your cell number now if you switch ..or at least i think ur spozza be able too  ...was spozza change so you could,.,, like in USA

Good luck ! on the purchase of your new home ...woohoo member parking in ya drive on east side...lafffinnnnnnnnnnn joking ya ...all da best
