You Know .. I went into the Dr's and after SEVERAL visits to the hospital and the office etc....I have been found to have a case of Throat Cancer.. Seems there is a growth on my vocal cords , turns out to be cancerous . . PERFECT ! ! ! !

As it turns out , the 'growth' is not gonna 'heal itself' . DAMN ! ! !   I went , again, to the Dr. to find out that surgery wasn't needed and even the dreaded 'KEMO" wasn't gonna be the preferred treatment ! If all else fails THEN WELL MAYBE ! !!  For now the general consensis is to treat it with pin point radiation ...

Has anyone ever heard of this ... is there a 'track record' for this procedure .? ?

To say I am worried is an understatement  ! !  Just the fact that my freinds have rallied around me thru this first day is a great boost ! !

So any 'reinforcement' to 'their' opinion would be great!

Sly, just reading this now... you're best help right now is to keep your positive attitude as I've seen it over the couple of years on the boards now. After that, read up on what you can, understand it, and don't be afraid of questioning the doctors or getting second opinions. Hopefully in that location its fairly localized and can be dealt with quickly and successfully.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

regards, Mike.

HI All,

this is a copy from another board ...RSB aka as george has been hard at work to help Shane aka SLY and has asked that this information be post on other boards. I wanted it to be put with this thread so those that arent aware can read back.

Theres also supposed to be a small fishing event  to raise some funds. I have to see what i can find out and when i do i will post it here as well

heres the info so far

Hey folks, there has been a bank account open for Shane (Slyatv)!! [<-Back One Page]  [<-Edit My Post]

Hi again ALL....i did some follow up on the event for sly and have the following info...  there will also be an update to this soon. When i get the update i will post it and i am told that there are now a few prizes to be had and I know RSB will do a good job at deciding how they will be won ....the main thing is that Shane wins ...for those that dont know rsb aka George , he has been around the simcoe boards for years and has organized events and worked with the boards for a long while ...we dont see much of him now but when something  like this happens George pops out of the woods to pitch in and help.  Shane or as most know him is sly or slyatv or the guy with that funny machine ...aka the wilcraft  has been around a long time too an has helped many  fishers in many ways. The whole point to my rambling is lets all try to get out there and see sly and then wotch dlmatv outfish him ...hahahahaha ..hopefull there will be a great attendence for the fishing event ...heres what i have at this point , copied from another post :

First, I am still working on getting the trust fund open and unfortunately it has become a lot more difficult than I thought, BUT I WILL get it opened and will let everyone know.

In the mean time, I’d like to organize a tourney and have 100% of the entry fee be given to Shane. The winner will get bragging rights and the way some of you folks brag.. HAHAHAHAHA.. Seriously, this is to help out a person in need and give you a chance to meet Shane if you have not had the pleasure of doing so.. And of course, it is to have a GOOD TIME with friends, board members and of course, LOT’S of food. And who knows, maybe a gift certificate for something.. Maybe get a donation of some prizes, nothing big, again, this is to HELP SHANE and not to win prizes at a tourney.

Of course it will be held on Lake Simcoe.. The date is Saturday June 21st at Sibbald Point Provincial Park. Sunday the 22nd is the alternate date in case of bad weather. Let’s say, 7:30am start and 1:00pm end? Then we EAT.. Trapper or anyone else, can you reserve one of those shelters to BBQ afterwards? Either way, there is LOTS of room there and should accommodate our needs. ERVERYONE is welcome and ENCOURAGED to come out. This is a week before bass opener and should hopefully work out for everyone. Biggest fish wins and again, never know, there may or may not be a prize or two, but really, who cares if there is or not..

The entry fee will be say. $20.00 per person kids under 16 do not have to pay???? Everyone bring a little something to BBQ and I am sure that getting a couple of BBQ’s is no problem.. Maybe even a deep fryer..,

lets put the fun back in fishing
