I finally took a breather ... sat down with coffee in hand and read Saturdays paper. I come across a post in the local paper regarding our sport and thought you'd like to open this topic up for discussion ... Have a quick read and let us know what ya think ...!

Fees killing sports fishing

I read an interesting article regarding the decline of sports fishing.

Being the father of five the answer is obvious. I fished with my dad when I was young. This is before the days of fishing licences, yet another government tax grab. The inconvenience and in many cases the cost prohibit parents from taking their children to the dock and throwing in a line.

Fishing is a learned behaviour and our children, the next generation, mimic everything we do. If our government cares at all about this diminishing sport, they should drop the licensing and allow parents to spend this quality time with their kids. The revenue they lose will more than be offset by lower costs associated with vandalism and violence. Our future needs more to do than roaming the streets and malls.

So what do you think folks (Are ya for it or against it!?!)
