As 'Most' of you know , I was diagnosed with throat cancer last June .. Man that was devastating ! ! ! BUT .....
With the support of the community of fisher folk ,that frequent the boards ,I managed to 'get through' the beginning ..... ''denial , anger , and sheer disbelief'' ... Then the House I was living in became the house I used to live in .... The ''Help'' I got During that Time was Heartwarming to say the least .... to explain this a little My 'ex' landlord decided after five years to NOT Pay the hydro .... So ''THEY'' removed the Meter ! ! I posted that, that problem came about and Finnybobarino showes Up with a Generator for me to use Ran the Whole House ( for 30 bucks a day) ........ THANKS FINNY ! ! But that was a temporary solution ..WE Had to move ,so after three weeks That was it .. Now Having to travel to the hospital everyday living on Medical Unemployment as well as the Medications needed without coverage .the Money ran out quickly .... How was I to come up with first and last ? ! ... The Kindness of strangers came into play quickly ! ! First my NEW Landlord Allowed me to move in to a temporary apt ( very small bachelor apt) No money down ! ! WOW ! ! Then FINDS ME a larger apt in which I could easily fit My stuff and My family ! A rental agreement was drawn up ... All this happeening While I could hardly Walk from the treatments of Chemo and Other Medications ! The Raditation everyday had made it so I couldn't eat during the Last part of Moving and was losing weight ! .... But again the Community came through with a ton of helpers ... Mostly Thanks to MY Buddy George for many things & That Fishing benefit was Great ! But of course there were many others as well ! ! I couldn't help even myself ..I didn't have the ability !?!? Scottydog worked with me everyday till I was diagnosed and was there everytime I picked up the Phone ..Thanks man !
After that I was finishing my treatments and flipping over to HEAL mode ! All this time people would drop a twenty or more into the account .... MAN THAT HELPED POSITIVE MIND POSITIVE OUTCOME ! ! .. A note ...... I heal fast 'cause I've had lots and lots of practise ! ! But even so I was REALLY in a bad state for a few weeks .................
The Medical establishment that we have , does have a good Idea how to deal with some common cancers ; NOT that Cancer is to be taken Lightly; Cause I felt like the treatments were gonna kill me . Man I slept , nearly full days for about three weeks .. BUT I GOTTA THANK THEM for just about killing me ! ! ! ! ! !
TODAY YES today ... I got the news today that my throat has NO signs of Cancer anywhere on the vocal chords ...... WHOOO HOOOO ! ! ! I'm gonna be ME again ! ! I don't Know HOW to THANK EVERYONE that HELPED ME survive this Huge endevour ! Financialy there were MANY that helped .. HOW do I say this ... Human Kindness .... It warms my heart to even think about how PEOPLE have been so GENEROUS ! It seemed Like someone was posting my expenses somewhere cause 'if I needed it' ''IT'' was there ! >.. Hard to believe to a certain extent ! Then The Emotional support .. I got Thousands ...Literally Thousands of E-mails telling me of Prayers and Thoughts that all wished me well .... Never under estimate the power of the human prayer ,,,, Prayer Has Changed my Life more than once ! Thank God ! My God and Your God ... Every prayer Helped !
They can see NO sign of Cancer in My throat ! ! Can You believe that news ... Still Healing but getting huge progression everyday ! THANKS EVERYONE ... ! ! ! When My Voice comes Back Lookout !

hey Sly... that's excellent news... many people here were in your corner as well.. its great news there's no more signs of it... don't discount also your own positive outlook in beating this thing. Glad to see you'll be out there this winter on the hard water!!

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
May be up this weekend depending on the weather. Since the trolling motor is still broke down, I'm going to have to get the wife to row again. I hope the old girl can get it up to the 2 miles an hour I need for the downriggers.
(OHHHHHH I hope she NEVER finds this board!!!!) LOL!!

| Nah it wasn't my Lucky Harness ! ! Ya this was the toughest thing I've had to deal with ... I've broke My neck ...wore a Halp vest for 18 weeks ... smashed my arm and that put me out for a year and a half but this was fast and furious ! ! ... Didn't even Take My hair !

Good stuff to hear Shane. The healing goes on and the next thing ur all better and its ice fishing ! Go get em me son ! LOL and not even bald eh ....and i had a mental image too ...laffffin ..that was great news !

Ya... ya kept your hair but I heard a rumour that one of your "boys" turned blue and fell off. Damn, that must of hurt.
Just got the results of my CAT scan back and I'm NEGATIVE. They think it is a calcuim cyst in the back of my throat and NOT the Big "C". That means I get to keep BOTH of MY boys. (and what's left of my hair) LOL!!!
Just bought a case of Blue. You interested in helping me with it Sunday or are you still high and dry????
