i have been running the green power pro on a few baitcasters for the past four years...........it's ok....use it for casting and trolling.....power pro floats to much so i don't use on the rods i use for pitching, flipping or dragging.....
only beef i have with power pro is it wraps around the tip of your rod if you let the line go slack..........
it also straightens out hooks on your favourite lures if your drag is set to tight and and you get a bit stupid on a hook set like i often do.
can't imagine the red stuff would be much different.

OK guys, thanks for the tips. I like tryin' new stuff, but I'm also tight with me money (well lets be honest ... the wife is the tight a$$) !!!
What I liked about the red is that it hides well, or so they say. I find the fish are kinda spooked this time of year, so if your line is totally invisible maybe your chances are a bit better for hookin' that monster (lol).
Guess I'll keep shoppin' I guess ... I better go see what else I need (hahaha)!!!
Has a good one ~dokdok

i switched to p-line flouro clear this year on all my spinning gear.........
it is clear and sensitive enough to pick up on smallies when they suck in a tube........
i like it so far...have had no trouble with it........used it during ice fishing and it worked well then too......
but still need a braided for hauling hogs out of the slop..........
i run 6 to 8 rods in the boat........ all tied for different technics under different conditions....there are times when a braided is the way to go and times a flouro is the better choice.......
one line i hate and most guy swear by is trilene........have tried there xl, big game xt and every other type they make and not one of stayed on my reel for more then one day.

This year I have been testing the following lines.
Power Pro 20lb and 30lb
Tuf Line XP 15lb and 20lb
Stren Super Braid 20lb
Whiplash 20lb and 30lb
I tested each one for strength first and they all broke slightly above where they were labled.
The Whiplash is the thinnest but is only available on Ebay and will cost you some good coin. Offshore releases won't hold on Whiplash
Tuf Line XP was the second thinnest and is widely available and is the second thinnest. This line is far less expensive then most. Offshore releases wouldn't hold here either. I called the company today and they are sending me a 30lb sample that should hold the release and is about as thin as Power Pro 20lb.
Power Pro seemed to hold the release but I had problems with it wrapping around the guides of the rod
Stren Super Braid is the thickest and I had the same guide problems.
If the Tuf Line XP 30lb works as well as the other ones I tested then it would be the clear winner. I'll let you know how it works out.
I've fought over 100 rainbows and walleyes so far this year and none of the lines broke.

Hey Vanselena,
Really appreciate the thorough testing and update. Tuf line seems to be the keeper! You say that it is readily available,,, who supplies in London?? ... and have you ever tried red line?
Thanks again for sharin'! Now lets hope that storm blows over!! ~dokdok
PS. Ratherbe and Horseshoe: You made some really good points too! Still undecided on what to use (Ahhhhhhh...lol)... Too many choices hahahaa, but I'm getting close. Thanks guys ~dokdok

Tuf Line makes a red line, they sent me 5000 feet of it but I havn't tried it yet. They say it disappears in water deeper then 12'.
We will be suggesting to the stores that carry our Torpedo's, the braid that seems to be best. We will also make it available on our website for customers that do not have a retail outlet nearby.

I haven't tried the red line by pro line but I use the moss green.
I use 40lb breaking strain and the two things I find are that you can't keep it tight between the rod tip and worm (the wind just takes it even if it's not that windy) and 2nd I find when I cast it on my spinning gear it tangles on the cast into big mess, especially if you give it a bit of power.
So what do people recommend for bass fishing is 40lb to heavy and what make of braid, I guess the tuff line yeah.
